Need rain so we can see   WILDFLOWERS!

Check out Michael Plagens seasonal list of over 50 wildflowers you can find at Saddle Mountain and other Western Desert locations.

Ironwood buds.

Wolfberry (Arizona Desert Thorn).

Sunflowers near Arlington.

Diverse wildlife and plants are found throughout the Western Desert.  Rainfall, has been short for two decades so keep your fingers crossed in the fall and winter so you can see wildflowers.  Tinny Arizona Popcorn Flower is blooming and many more will take turns blooming soon!
The attached set of wildflower photographs can be found at the very accessible, north side of Saddle Mountain; or the south side of Belmont Mountain; and the east side of Harquahala Peak.
All have areas that are easy to
reach but high clearance vehicles and hiking shoes are always a good idea.

Another beautiful wildflower area is Vulture Peak which has a scenic drive and nice hiking areas.  Easy to reach northeast of Tonopah or southwest of Wickenburg.

Rare ‘crested’  Saguaro & blooming Brittlebush.

MESQUITE WILDLIFE OASIS outdoor classroom continues helping students get to know the Sonoran Desert…Field classes are directly tied to school curriculum.  Get details on Mesquite Oasis here.
